Rev. Schuller retiring from Crystal C – Rock Repub

She was ordained just a month before she was appointed to head up Crystal Cathedral Ministries.

The senior Schuller first formulated his outreach to the unchurched in the mid-1950s when he opened a ministry at a drive-in theater in the suburbs of Orange County that catered to Southern California’s emerging car culture. He pulled people in with his sermons on the power of positive thinking.

“That was emotional for me, and I’m humbled and honored to be asked to take this responsibility,” Coleman said Sunday after being commissioned, wiping away tears as she addressed her congregation. “I truly know that God is here, he loves this ministry and my call is to help take the ministry into the future and to continue dad’s ministry.”

The 83-year-old Schuller told his congregation that Sheila Schuller Coleman will become sole lead pastor, after sharing that role with her father for the past year.

Crystal Cathedral also faces legal action from more than 100 vendors who are owed millions of dollars for their work on the church’s pageants and other projects.

Coleman previously served as principal of a private Christian school run by the cathedral and head of the Orange County church’s family ministries division.

“I’m very proud that Sheila has earned her doctorate at the University of California, Irvine, and that this university has declared her to (have earned) a distinguished alumnus award,Rock Republic,” Schuller told his congregation during the 9:30 a.m. service. “Congratulations, I’m very proud of her.”

Robert A. Schuller is now part of Dallas-based American Life Network, a cable channel aiming to produce family-oriented programming.

Coleman, 59, lives in Orange with her husband, Jim, and has four grown children.

The “Hour of Power” telecast, filmed in the cathedral’s main sanctuary, at one point attracted 1.3 million viewers in 156 countries.

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – The Rev. Robert H. Schuller, founder of Southern California’s Crystal Cathedral megachurch and host of the “Hour of Power” televangelism broadcast, announced Sunday he will retire after 55 years in the pulpit and his daughter will take over.

The 10,000-member all-glass church faces significant challenges under Coleman’s leadership.

The church also canceled this year’s “Glory of Easter” pageant, which attracts thousands of visitors and is a regional holiday staple along with the church’s “Glory of Christmas” show.

The elder Schuller will assume the newly created position of chairman of Crystal Cathedral’s consistory, which is the church’s board of directors, The Orange County Register reported.

Coleman’s appointment comes two years after Schuller’s son, the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, split from the church during a family rift that made headlines. The younger Schuller had been groomed to take over for his father.

Church leaders blamed the decline on the struggling U.S. economy. They sold 170 acres in southern Orange County,Abercrombie jackets, including a retreat and wedding center, laid off employees and cut “Hour of Power” from eight of the 45 domestic broadcast TV stations that air it.

Earlier this year the church said it saw revenue drop 27 percent from roughly $30 million in 2008 to $22 million in 2009.

The little church later grew into the Crystal Cathedral, a worship hall with a soaring glass spire that opened in 1970 and remains an architectural wonder and tourist destination.

Spanish zombie sequel adds little to the genre – S

Despite the undeniable technical proficiency of co-directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza — they also wrote the screenplay with Manu Diez — the ultimately repetitive " 2" doesn't add much to the original,Smet, and the ending that clearly sets the stage for a third entry in the series doesn't inspire much hope that things will be measurably different.

Although " 2" — the sequel to the Spanish hit of a couple of years ago that was faithfully remade on our shores as "Quarantine" — doesn't exactly bring anything new to the genre, it's no less effective than its predecessor in expertly conjuring an air of low-tech-style dread.

The all-too-familiar proceedings mostly comprise a series of gory surprise attacks by the zombies, though an effort is made to punch up the narrative via a priest (Jonathan Mellor) posing as a health ministry doctor who provides a cheesy, "Exorcist"-style demonic explanation for the events.

This sequel,BBC, opening Friday and set mere minutes after the first film, again is set in a rundown apartment building whose residents have all mysteriously been transformed into bloodthirsty zombies that have a nasty habit of popping up unexpectedly. Clearly inspired by vintage predecessors like "The Blair Witch Project," the film uses the conceit of having all the action depicted through shaky, first-person videocam images.

Revolving around the efforts of an increasingly spooked SWAT team to clear the building of its infected occupants, its footage supposedly is being shot by an unseen cameraman, helmet-cams on the soldiers' heads (is that a common police technique?), and a group of interloping teenagers who naturally document their every move.

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – It's nice to see that the Europeans aren't letting us get too far ahead in the vitally important cultural area of zombie movies.

Half a million Vaio laptops prone – Ed hardy t-shi

According to PCWorld, Sony is announcing that more than half a million Vaio notebook computers are prone to overheating due to a bug in the BIOS software. It’s unclear how severe the overheating could get — whether damage could occur to the machine or to its surroundings — but it’s not a warning to take lightly. To date the overheating has not caused any significant property damage beyond the laptop itself, with 39 cases of the problem now on record, PCWorld reports.

The news comes on the heels of a similar revelation by Dell, which became embroiled in a lawsuit over faulty computers that the company said had overheated because they were “overtaxed” by being made to “perform difficult math calculations,” the New York Times reports. Later that diagnosis was revised: Millions of computers had been sold in the 2000s “riddled with faulty electrical components that were leaking chemicals and causing the malfunctions.”

Those computers, sold as late as 2005, are probably all retired by now. But the Sony laptops are new,Baby Phat, all sold this year.

Most of the models are Japanese, but several were sold elsewhere, including 260,000 units sold in the U.S. The updates are limited to Vaio models F and C, which hit the market in January. If you have a laptop with the model number VPCCW25FG/B, VPCCW25FG/P, or VPCCW25FG/W, check this Web page for update instructions — although actually, if you have any laptop with a model number beginning with VPCF11 or VPCCW2, it’d be a good idea to check that page to make sure your machine is not affected. You’ll also find a toll-free number there to help walk you through the update process if you run into trouble.

The American Consumer Product Safety Commission has reportedly asked the company to recall the products, but Sony has so far balked, saying the issue can be fixed remotely.

Kilmer ruffles feathers in northern New Mexic – Ev

In October 2003, Rolling Stone published an article that quoted Kilmer as saying he lived in the “homicide capital of the Southwest” and 80 percent “of the people in my county are drunk.”

Well, some of Kilmer’s real-life northern New Mexico neighbors share Bailey’s sentiments. They’re upset with him, saying he made disparaging comments about San Miguel County and for chasing away people fishing on the Pecos River at his ranch.

The bitter feelings that have been brewing over the last several years have reached a boiling point. But unlike Holliday, Kilmer won’t be able to settle this with a knife or a pair of six-shooters.

An Army veteran, Tapia was offended. He said his cousin and friend from school had fought and died in Vietnam.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – No words were minced when the character Ed Bailey jumped out of his seat in one of the early scenes of “Tombstone” and told the slick gambler and gunslinger Doc Holliday — played by actor Val Kilmer — to scram after their poker game went sour.

“He’s not a good neighbor. That’s all there is to it,” Tapia said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Kilmer has been asked to appear before county commissioners to explain himself during a meeting next Wednesday.

Despite Rolling Stone standing by the article, Kilmer denied the statements and said he had actually bragged about New Mexico during the interview. Days later, he took out an ad in the Santa Fe New Mexican, saying he loved New Mexico and Pecos.

He also accused Kilmer of being racist, claiming that the actor is trying to create “a segregated facility” at the ranch by charging people to stay at the guest houses. Tapia reasons that local Hispanics in the area would be excluded because they wouldn’t be able to afford a night at the ranch.

The flap started when Kilmer’s Pecos River Ranch sought to open three guest houses to paying customers. The county zoning and planning commission approved the proposal 3-2 in March, but Rowe resident Abran Tapia appealed to the commission.

Calls and e-mails to Kilmer and his publicist have not been returned, but commission chairman David Salazar said the actor has indicated he will show up.

“I’m not worried at all about the reaction because I just see it as an opportunity to bring people together,” he told the newspaper. “No one would make a false statement like this statement of racism if they knew what we were doing.”

The flap has caught the attention of everyone from the New Mexico chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, which has offered to defend Kilmer’s 1st Amendment rights, to the California-based Committee on Chicano Rights and Gov. Bill Richardson, who is known for his diplomatic problem-solving skills.

Richardson, who is friends with Kilmer, said he has been pushing for all sides to meet.

“Val,Evisu, he’s got his rights,” the governor said. “The 1st Amendment protects him to say anything he wants, but those comments he made a long time ago were not good comments. So I think there’s a possibility of a gracious exit for both sides with the meeting coming up.”

The hope, Salazar said, is that something good — for Kilmer and the community — comes from the meeting.

“I think it’s a chance for him, an opportunity,Louis Vittion, to straighten out the record,” said Salazar. “I think if he goes ahead and explains what happened, if he was misquoted or if he said something and somebody took it the wrong way, I think it’s to his benefit to clear that up.”

“Take your money and get out ’cause I’m tired of listening to your mouth,” Bailey yelled.

Tapia has never met Kilmer, but he proceeded to tick off a list of reasons why the actor is on the bottom of his list. Included were the disparaging comments Kilmer allegedly made in two magazine articles years ago and the “no trespassing” signs posted around Kilmer’s sprawling ranch, which includes a few choice miles of the Pecos River.

Kilmer recently told the Albuquerque Journal that the accusations against him have been upsetting for his friends.

To make matters worse, Kilmer tried to explain for an Esquire writer two years later the emotional toll acting takes on an artist by talking about the soldiers who were shipped off to fight in Vietnam and how they were mentally unprepared for the horror of war. He ended up saying most of them were sent to the war because they were “borderline criminal or poor.”

Western designers to re-mix and interpretation

Today’s designers still did not stop the research and excavation of the oriental culture: Italian designer Giorgio Armani (Giorgio Armani) to Chinese calligraphy ink to move to the fashion, the beaded-style gown revealing moment of Zen Oriental America. Another master Valentino (Valentino Garavani) will also be China’s Jiangnan features brocade embroidery and Chinese-style plate buttons directly used in fashion design. Known as the fashion heresy molecules Yuehan Jia Juliano (John Galliano) like the pulse of folk from around the world, ancient things to look for design theme, and be able to make them shine with the unique charm of the unexpected. He used the traditional dress for inspiration, using modern techniques from the Orient subjects showed a different style: China’s old Shanghai style of dress, the Mao Zedong era military uniform, will be the charm of oriental philosophy and the art of the perfect combination of Dior. The new century, Galliano is still carried on the East Complex, China’s martial arts, filled with a strong oriental-style makeup and dramatic Japanese-style kimono and would have to appear in the Dior Haute Couture on the stage. 07 spring and summer release of high fashion inspired by Puccini’s opera “Madame Butterfly”: Japanese-style kimono-style, wide belt with geisha makeup, lanterns, cherry blossoms, pine, folding fans, various elements of classic Japanese-style is dazzled. Imitation clogs-style high-heeled shoes also fit the shape of the origami, bundle, another kind of repression and distortion of beauty. The 08 spring and summer, the East way Xie Jin and trim again there! After all the elements of the East-oriented interpretation of Dior, so that a perfect blend of East and West, two cultures, it is once  Moncler  again a taste of the designer’s extraordinary talent, wake-up gentle and sensitive emotions.

In the globalization of today, China is also strongly in the design of designers from different angles show national, traditional, dress charm is part of China. In recent years, major international film festival awards ceremony and other major occasions, the Chinese image of the mostly ethnic-style dress with the emergence of China, which seems to have become a symbol. The traditional cheongsam collar, plate buttons, ink paintings, the national pattern style, embroidery … … the national elements of these unique designer vividly demonstrated by  Moncler  the Chinese on the world stage. The 20th Tokyo Film Festival, actor dressed in a thin Tao nursery design with distinctive Chinese characteristics, “Phoenix uniform” appearance, temperament elegant, eye-catching the red carpet Shashi. 2005 film “Green Red” the actress Gao Yuanyuan to wear a fashion designer Qi Gang by our tailor whom the “very happy” stunning evening dress at the Cannes Film Festival, and was the authority of the media as a “2005 The best red carpet appearance, “one of the. The just-concluded 2008 Cannes Film Festival, Taiwan actress Lin Chi-ling was wearing a few pieces from the traditional cheongsam dress improved with strong Chinese characteristics.

Because of social, cultural, and historical reasons, the East  Moncler  and West, the East-West differences of the concept of designer-style interpretations of the East are not the same. Whether it is China’s qipao, Chinese ink painting, folding fans, or Japanese-style kimono, Ukiyo-e, geisha’s makeup, after the Western designers to re-mix and interpretation of heterogeneous after they reflect the unique style. The East with the Oriental theme designers for inspiration by focusing on the humanistic spirit of the Eastern traditions, emphasizing the combination of  Moncler  man and nature can better reflect the Oriental aesthetic charm and essence.
